Victoria, Canada, Bicyclist Killed in Rancho Mirage Accident

An unidentified driver of a white Chevrolet truck was headed north on Bob Hope Drive in Rancho Mirage, California, when he unexplainably entered the bicycle lane killing 74-year-old Peter Harvey, according to Deputy Mike Vasquez of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. After the accident that occurred about 10:13 AM, the sheriff’s department closed Bob Hope Drive for about four hours as their traffic reconstruction officers investigated. During part of the investigation, Ginger Rodgers was also closed to traffic.

The driver remained on the scene and fully cooperated with the police. It does not appear that drugs or alcohol were involved. It appears the driver of the truck that has Desert Electrical Supply on its driver’s door impacted Harvey on the front passenger side. The police have not released any details of their report at this time.

Peter Harvey was from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. At this time, no funeral details have been announced.
