On July 9, 2021, 15-year-old Royce Felten will finish cycling through California’s nine national parks.
Globe Newswire reported on the story, saying that Felten took on the journey in order to raise money for charity. Felten is an endurance road cyclist who has survived cancer and is on the autism spectrum.
Over the last seven months, Felten has cycled throughout over 350 miles of national park roads. Two of the parks (Pinnacles and Channel Islands) were completed with alternate activities such as kayaking or hiking because of their limited or nonexistent road systems.
Felten rides for two cycling charities: VeloYouth and Team California Juniors. As of writing, his GoFundMe is approximately $200 away from reaching its goal.
