Bicyclist Struck By Vehicle, Seriously Injured In San Diego

Officer John Buttle with the San Diego Police Department says that they are withholding the name of a 50-year-old bicyclist who rode his bicycle into oncoming traffic about 7:10 PM on May 15, 2018. The bicyclist who was riding who was riding southbound in the 4300 block of 41st Street in the Teralta West neighborhood was struck by a 2010 Dodge Caliber driven by a 33-year-old female driver.

Medical personnel was called to the scene, according to Officer Buttle. He says that the man’s injuries appear to be life-threatening. While it is not clear why the man rode his bike into the oncoming traffic, it does not appear that drugs or alcohol was a contributing factor.

San Diego Police would like to talk to anyone who may have witnessed this accident. Remember that if you are riding and come to an intersection that you must obey all traffic laws.
