Carlsbad Car Bike Crash Sends Two to Hospital June 2018

Carlsbad police officer Lieutenant Christie Calderwood says that a 64-year-old man suffered a medical emergency while driving his dark-colored 2011 Lexus sedan southbound on College Boulevard in front of Calavera Hills Elementary School.

According to NBC San Diego, the car allegedly crossed into a bike lane where it struck a 16-year-old-female rider causing minor injuries before coming to rest against an electrical box. The accident occurred on June 25, 2018, at approximately 11 AM. The car suffered extensive front-end damage while the electrical box suffered some damage.

Witnesses at the scene say they saw CPR being administered to at least one person. Both the driver and the rider were transported to area hospitals, but no official statement has been released about their condition.

Southbound lanes of College Boulevard were closed for several hours while the police worked to document evidence at the scene. They then reopened the road after cleaning up the damage and seeing that the car was towed away.
