As of September 2020, there’s a new bike shop for Oakhurst residents to enjoy: Pedal Forward Bikes + Adventure.
Founders Jorge Negrete and Michael Broderick both have backgrounds in hospitality and started this venture to reimagine what a bike shop could bring to their community. It was also a bright spot in the midst of darker circumstances brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In an interview with Sierra Star, Broderick gives this background: “What Jorge and I have endeavored to do is turn our love for mountain biking into a new business. It is exciting to use my expertise from the hospitality industry to do something truly unique. That’s how the name of the shop came together. We had to keep going. We had to pedal forward.”
Pedal Forward Bikes + Adventures actually has three unique zones for guests to enjoy: The Adventure Zone, The Chill Zone, and The Shopping Zone.
In the Adventure Zone, guests will find detailed maps of the region’s trails, including those in Yosemite’s South Gate area. This area is where beginners can come for recommendations or advice.
The Chill Zone has a flat-screen TV showing mountain biking and cycling content around the click, as well as relaxing seating. Guests can wait here for a quick repair or talk cycling with their friends and fellow cyclists.
The Shopping Zone is where guests can purchase bikes, accessories, apparel, and gear.
Starting next summer, Pedal Forward plans to offer rental bikes, demo bikes, and guided rides.
Pedal Forward Bikes + Adventures is located at 40761 Highway 41 in Oakhurst and is open daily from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
