Officials with the San Gabriel Police Department in California say that a 74-year-old bicyclist was traveling east on Angeleno Avenue when he was struck by a Lexus traveling west along the same stretch of road. The accident occurred near the intersection of Del Mar and Angeleno on February 19, 2018, at approximately 3:30 PM. The bicyclist was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition.
According to the Pasadena-Star News, the Lexus was driven by a 40-year-old man from San Gabriel, California. He immediately stopped and called 911 while rendering lifesaving aid to the injured bicyclist. The authorities say that they made no arrest, but they continue to investigate the accident.
